    I've done this before. It's a lot of fun. But one thing that doesn't make sense is climbing. This wet Slippery Rock and human chain. That is got to be the dumbest s***I've ever heard yourself you ever go and climb that fall. Do not hold people's hands. You need both hands.

    I can’t believe I was once ashamed of my heritage, now, I listen to my father with pleasure when he speaks in Maya. Thank you for filming my dad for this! It is really special.

      @@jensz9360 There are a lot of cultural factors to be understood. Racism and discrimination embedded in the remains of the once colonial cast system. You’d be surprised to hear some comments made by older folks which made a lot of Maya change their last names, migrate to cities, abandon their traditional clothing and pursue a “civilized” life. I NOW have the comprehension of this social and cultural issue, with the news that this generation is the one making a change. But, it is also the reason why I don’t speak Maya, whereas my father does.

      @@danieljosuebalamceballos9416 Yeah man, no need to be ashamed of who you are. If someone doesnt like it who cares. I think it also stems from the previous generations telling the young ones that in order to make something of themselves they had to pretend to not be Mayan. This made the young kids think there was something wrong with them. The adults should have instilled confidence and skill in the young ones instead of self hatred and low self esteem due to their identity.

    • @danieljosuebalamceballos9416
      @danieljosuebalamceballos9416 Рік тому

      @@jensz9360 that’s because even adults believe that. You have no idea how many times I heard grandparents and parents say racial slurs hoping absurdly to scale up economically… it is a cultural thing, it isn’t a matter of self esteem alone. I had my wake up call in 2018, and many now are feeling proud of it, but you can’t change culture in one day. So, we’d appreciate understanding the context before questioning the issue from an outside point of view. Anyway, as I said before, this is the generation doing something about it.

    • @jensz9360
      @jensz9360 Рік тому

      @@danieljosuebalamceballos9416 Trust me , I would believe it. I think yu assumed that I have an "outside point of view". Its a problem within the culture, they dont bring the kids up and teach them to value themselves instead the adults try and make it out to be like they will only have value if they kiss up to certain other groups.
